What’s the deal? The best flickr uploader for Linux Windows and Mac has totally fallen off the front page of Google in the past week. Last week it was the first link returned, but now, it’s on the second page again! Did I punch someone at google or something? How can something go from #1 to #15 in a week without anything major happening? Hell even Vardhman’s Qlickr is ahead of jUploadr now, which is patently unfair (to the users, of course).
Come on Google, get with the program already.

the problem i had compiling an open source app 5 years ago still pops up first when you search for me.

that’s because you’re the only winsor kwong on the planet.
Actually, my page rank for this site is pretty decent. I’m on the first page if you search for ‘Steve Cohen’

I’m sure they just changed their pagerank scheme again. You must be too spamlike. I interviewed there today. I also quit my job effective at the end of the month, hence I don’t expect to be by much. We do, however, need to go grab a beer sometime.

hahaha….. What can I say, I stopped promoting my app after your remarks, but probably ppl already increased my page rank somehow.

Yet the page rank for this site improved… strange…. and Vardhman, you put your program on kde-apps.org, hardly not promoting. That’s alright, you’re proud of your work.

Is this the reason for your suspiction towards Google becoming Evil
(It already is for you :))
so it needs support.
Well May be I will hate Google after some time, it at all it becomes evil, but currently its out there fighting with the most Evil one

I’m not saying they’re evil, just that they have the potential to be evil. Microsoft didn’t start out evil, they were combatting the one true evil, IBM. Now that they’re in the dominant position in the industry, they’re ‘evil’.
What’s the core problem is that they have a hegemony on the OS and browser fronts, and they use this to actively hurt standards. For the time being, Google has not done this, but like any large company, it’s very easy for them to crush an opponent.
I was also pointing out that you were criticizing Microsoft for a lot of the same business tactics that Google uses (buying competitors namely). The irony of making this statement while posting to a Blogger (was Pyra, bought by Google) blog should not be lost on you.

The google updates its rank more often recently, good news or bad news? good for some, and bad for some, lol~
