This is my first post from San Francisco. I got in to town on Thursday and was a good tourist until the weekend. I’ve started at my new job (more on that later) and things are very exciting. I’m still sleeping on the floor in a sleeping bag while I wait for my things to come (they should be in tomorrow) but I’m already learning what it’s like to be a San Franciscan.
My job is really exciting. I’ve worked for both large and small companies and this is the first place where I’ve had a computer that is set up prior to my arrival. I’ve also noticed that the system administration is stunningly competent. In fact, everyone I’ve met is stuningly competent. I’ve still got that fish out of water feeling, but I’ve already been helpful in finding and fixing a couple of bugs, which is always appreciated.
I get my motorcycle on Friday, so at least I’ll be able to ride this weekend.
